Pose Once, Photograph 3 Times

It's like the old saying, "measure twice and cut once," only the photography version!

I'd like to explain a little how I have been changing up my work lately.  I've learned that posing and reposing people is tedious and it can be frustrating and uncomfortable for the subject.  Instead how about a single pose with different camera angles and distances.  Creates 3 different looks and pictures while the photographer does all the foot work!  Ha ha.

The picture on the left is a good picture.  It shows off her lovely outfit and shoes picked for her pictures,  The middle picture still show off much of the outfit and is a very good picture of her, the on the right is the best picture for a true portrait.  It shows off her natural beauty and really lets her be the main focus of the picture.  Each are great to have on their own, but even better together.

As always I am constantly improving, learning, and excited to search out new places and meet new people through my lenses!  This Spring is proving to be my busiest yet and I am truly blessed and honored with so many of you and your friends and families who are sharing my work and helping me to be a better photographer all the time.

The Journey Has Begun

My two friends have begun a journey towards being healthier and massive weight loss.  For many of us who have experienced it or have lived with others who have, dramatic weight loss and the drastic life style changes that come along with it are no simple little things.  It's a very big deal!  These 2 are a very big deal.  A great couple who love each other and who are super fun and funny to be around.

He has lost over 100 lbs all ready and her a little more than 70.  Why is it guys always lose faster?  Ha ha!  It was clear to me that from the last time that I'd seen these 2 their energy level was much higher and their personalities were really starting to shine through even more than before.  I had no idea that he was over 6 feet tall!  Being able to stand up straighter, hold his head higher, and have a renewed enthusiasm for life are all ready changing this guy's life.

I look forward to following these two and taking more pictures in the future as their milestones pass and as they continue to work hard together towards their amazing goals!

We joked about how I didn't take an "before" pictures prior to the big changes taking place, but I did!  I just didn't realize it at the time. Last summer at her Mother's wedding there were a few pictures that can help us gauge the "before" to go along with the "During" and the "After" as their hard work continues.

Editing Example

I took this picture of myself about 2 years ago.  I'm using this an an example of my different editing styles and a color combo.

This is the vintage version, which is a little more yellow.

What I usually do for a "natural" look.  It's not retouched too much, but skin is smoothed a little and retouched for blemishes.  This is the basic edit which the others all start from, so almost always included with any other style.

This is the brighter and bolder version.  The colors are vibrant and the image is lightened.

This is probably not the most amazing picture that I've ever taken, but it was a few years ago with a tripod!  I thought it would be a good example of the differences since it has both blue and red tones.  Click on the images to enlarge and you can rock back and forth with it full screen to really see the differences.

WIDE Awake Baby Girl

Those sweet sleeping baby pictures are beautiful, but this little girl was wide awake the entire time!  We tried making it super warm, feeding her, wrapping her up, snuggling her, and about anything else that might put a baby to sleep and she just wouldn't do it!  Her excited little eyes to check out everything and to be a part of what was going on was amazing.

The hair flower head bands that she is wearing are my FAVORITE for newborn girls!  They are pretty and feminine, but not over powering the beauty of the baby and photograph very well.  If you're a new mom or looking for a gift, something like this would be awesome.

Easter Follow Up

My Easter event went well.  I was very pleased to work with a few people and to be able to take some beautiful pictures.  My guest model (pictured above) was on her best behavior and did very well also.  This event did spark some interest from others and I usually do pictures for children for $25 each.  Often I do deals and events, but the work I do and the many images I include on a disc for clients is definitely worth my normal price.

Easter Mini Day

I'm doing an Easter Event with this set up, plus a real live Easter Bunny, and candy for the kiddos.

Date:  SATURDAY MARCH 23RD
Price:  $10 a child.
Location:  MY house (message or call for address)
Time:  10 am - 1 pm

It's going to be fast, painless, and fun!  I'll edit them up and have them to you before Easter.  I will probably posting the best of each child on Facebook so that you can either see them or share them from there quickly.

1st Birthday

This Handsome Little Guy turned 1.  They grow up so fast...  Be sure to get some great pictures of them when they are little.  I know a person that just might be able to help you with that too...  Ha ha!
